Dan-jaan

Dan-jaan was a site on the northern boundary of Israel visited by Joab and the commanders of the army during David's census of the population (2 Samuel 24:6). The name and location are uncertain; some manuscripts and ancient versions read "Dan and Ijon" (separate towns), while others treat it as a single place-name. It was evidently located in the far north of the land, near the region of Gilead and the Sidonians. The census route traveled from Aroer in the south through Transjordan, then northward to Dan-jaan and Sidon, then southwest back to Beersheba — a circuit of the entire territory of Israel.
