Dannah

Place Name

Name meaning: "judging"

Dannah (meaning judging) was a town in the hill country of Judah, listed in Joshua 15:49 among the cities of the tribe of Judah in the highlands near Hebron. It appears in the same cluster as Debir (Kirjath-sannah) and Socoh, placing it in the southern hill country. The site has not been definitively identified with a modern location, though some scholars have proposed Khirbet Samia or a neighboring ruin in the Hebron region. It is mentioned only once in Scripture and plays no further role in the biblical narrative.
