Dimnah

Dimnah (meaning dunghill) was a city within the tribal territory of Zebulun, assigned to the Merarite branch of the Levites as part of the Levitical city allotments (Josh. 21:35). It is likely identical to Rimmon in the parallel Levitical city list in 1 Chronicles 6:77, where Dimnah does not appear—suggesting either a scribal variant between the two accounts or a dual name for the same location.

The site's exact location in the territory of Zebulun has not been identified archaeologically, and it plays no narrative role in the Old Testament beyond its mention in the Levitical city lists.
