Eliada

Eliada (meaning whom God cares for or knowledge of God) is the name of two individuals in the Old Testament. The first is one of David's sons born after his establishment in Jerusalem, listed in 2 Samuel 5:16 and 1 Chronicles 3:8 among the children born to him there. This Eliada is also called Beeliada in 1 Chronicles 14:7, a variant that substitutes "Baal" for "El" in the name — likely reflecting a period when the title Baal ("lord") was used for the LORD without idolatrous connotation, and later revised due to Baal-worship associations.

The second Eliada was the father of Rezon, the leader of a band of Syrian raiders who became an adversary of Solomon throughout his reign (1 Kings 11:23). Rezon had fled from his master Hadadezer king of Zobah and became king of Damascus, harassing Israel as an instrument of divine discipline for Solomon's idolatry.
