Eliam

Eliam (meaning God's people or the people of God) is the name of two individuals in the Old Testament. The first is the father of Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite and later of David (2 Samuel 11:3). The second, and possibly the same person, is listed among David's thirty mighty men as Eliam son of Ahithophel the Gilonite (2 Samuel 23:34). If these two are identical, it would make Bathsheba the granddaughter of Ahithophel, David's wise counselor who later betrayed him by advising Absalom — a detail that would add personal grievance to Ahithophel's political betrayal, since David had wronged Bathsheba's family.

The identification of the two Eliams remains uncertain, but the textual proximity in 2 Samuel makes the connection plausible and has been noted by commentators since antiquity as adding depth to the Ahithophel-David conflict narrative.
