Eliphelet

Eliphelet (meaning God his deliverance) is the name of several individuals in the Old Testament. The most notable is Eliphelet son of Ahasbai the Maachathite, one of David's thirty distinguished warriors, whose military exploits are listed in 2 Samuel 23:34. A second Eliphelet is listed in 1 Chronicles 11:35 (as Eliphal in some manuscripts). David also had a son named Eliphelet born to him in Jerusalem (2 Samuel 5:16; 1 Chronicles 3:6, 8). Ezra 8:13 mentions an Eliphelet among those who returned from Babylon with Ezra, and Ezra 10:33 lists another among those who had married foreign wives and agreed to put them away.

The name's meaning — emphasizing God as the source of deliverance — made it a recurring choice in Israelite families across different periods of biblical history. Its appearance in both Davidic genealogies and post-exilic records reflects the name's lasting appeal as a confession of trust in divine rescue.
