Eunice

Eunice (meaning good victory) was the mother of Timothy and the daughter of Lois, both remembered for their sincere faith (2 Timothy 1:5). She was a Jewish woman who had married a Greek (Acts 16:1), and it was she who, alongside her mother Lois, nurtured Timothy in the Scriptures from infancy (2 Timothy 3:15). When Paul met Timothy at Lystra on his second missionary journey, Timothy's reputation among the brethren was already well established. Paul's reference to the faith that "dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice" (2 Timothy 1:5) makes Eunice and Lois the New Testament's most explicit example of faith transmitted across generations through the instruction of women in the home.
