Gibeah-haaraloth

Gibeah-haaraloth (meaning hill of the foreskins) was the place near Gilgal where Joshua circumcised the Israelite males born during the forty years of wilderness wandering. The entire generation that had come out of Egypt had not been circumcised, and before Israel could celebrate the Passover and proceed to battle, the covenant sign had to be restored (Josh. 5:3). The name commemorates this mass circumcision carried out at Gilgal before the campaign in Canaan began.
