Gob

Gob (meaning cistern; grasshopper) was a site at which two battles between David's warriors and the Philistine giants took place (2 Sam. 21:18–19). In the parallel account in 1 Chronicles 20:4 the location is called Gezer, suggesting that Gob and Gezer may be the same place or close neighbors. At Gob, Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, a descendant of the giants, and Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim slew the brother of Goliath. These battles completed the subjugation of the Philistine giant clan begun by David's defeat of Goliath.
