Hadashah

Hadashah (meaning new) was a city in the lowland district (Shephelah) of the tribal territory of Judah, listed among the towns in Joshua 15:37. It appears in a cluster of settlement names in the valley region between the hill country of Judah and the coastal plain, an area that was strategically contested between Israelite and Philistine influence during the pre-monarchic and early monarchic periods.

The site has not been positively identified with a modern location, though several candidates in the Shephelah have been proposed by scholars. The brevity of its biblical mention and the lack of narrative context associated with it suggest it was a small agricultural town rather than a significant administrative center. Its inclusion in the Judahite town list of Joshua 15 indicates it was a recognized settlement within the tribal allotment at the time of conquest and distribution.
