Hamonah

Hamonah (meaning his multitude or his uproar) is the name figuratively given in Ezekiel's prophecy to the town near the valley of Hamon-gog where Gog's vast defeated army would be buried: And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah (Ezek. 39:16). The name derives from the same root as Hamon-gog and emphasizes the theme of the multitude of enemies that God will overwhelm in the eschatological battle.

Hamonah is a prophetic or visionary place name rather than an identifiable historical city; its significance is symbolic, signifying the permanent memorial that would mark the place of Gog's destruction. Like many place names in Ezekiel's vision of the restored land and the defeat of Gog (Ezek. 38–39), it belongs to the literature of apocalyptic geography—locations that carry theological meaning in a future scenario rather than references to existing cities in the prophet's own time.
