Harodite

Harodite is a geographical designation applied to two of David's elite warriors in 2 Samuel 23:25: Shammah the Harodite and Elika the Harodite. The epithet indicates they were from the area of Harod, the spring in the Valley of Jezreel near Mount Gilboa where Gideon had encamped before his victory over Midian (Judges 7:1). In the parallel passage of 1 Chronicles 11:27, Shammah is called "the Harorite" — a variant spelling that may reflect a copying error or a slightly different village name. Both warriors were among the thirty mighty men whose deeds of valor on behalf of David are commemorated in the military rosters of the Davidic kingdom.
