Hasupha

Hasupha (meaning uncovered or made bare) was a temple servant (Nethinim) whose descendants returned from Babylonian exile with Zerubbabel and were listed in the census of returnees (Ezra 2:43; Nehemiah 7:46). The Nethinim were a hereditary class of temple workers, and their return to Jerusalem to resume their duties in the temple service represents an important continuity between the pre-exilic and post-exilic temple communities. The inclusion of Hasupha's family in both the Ezra and Nehemiah lists confirms their place in the official record of the restoration community.
