Hat

Hat appears in the King James Version at Daniel 3:21 (Chaldean karb'ela), where it describes one of the garments worn by Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego when they were thrown into the fiery furnace: "their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments." The Aramaic term is of uncertain meaning — it may refer to a mantle, a cloak (pallium), or a head covering. The Revised Version renders it as "mantles," and modern translations vary between "cloaks," "robes," "turbans," or "other clothing." The point of the verse is that the men were bound and thrown in still wearing all their clothing, making the subsequent report that not even the smell of fire was on them (Daniel 3:27) all the more remarkable.
