Hatipha
Person
Hatipha (meaning captured) was a temple servant (Nethinim) whose descendants returned from the Babylonian exile and are listed in the census of returnees (Ezra 2:54; Nehemiah 7:56). Like the other Nethinim families, Hatipha's descendants resumed their temple service duties in Jerusalem after the return under Zerubbabel. The meaning of the name — "captured" — may reflect the origin of this family as war captives or enslaved persons incorporated into the temple service in an earlier period of Israel's history.
