Hazar-hatticon

Place Name

Name meaning: "middle village; preparation"

Hazar-hatticon (meaning the village of the midway or middle village) appears in Ezekiel 47:16 as a waypoint on the ideal northern boundary of the restored land in the prophet's eschatological vision. It is placed near Hamath in the northeastern border region, alongside Damascus and Hauran. The site has not been identified with certainty, and like several boundary markers in Ezekiel's visionary geography, it may refer to a location known to the prophet's contemporaries but now lost to history or known only by a different name.
