Helam

Helam (meaning their army; their trouble) was a place east of the Jordan where the Syrians (Arameans) gathered under Hadarezer of Zobah to make war against David, after their initial defeat by Joab. David crossed the Jordan, met them in battle at Helam, and inflicted a decisive defeat — killing 700 chariot fighters and 40,000 horsemen, along with Shobach the commander (2 Sam. 10:16–18). After this defeat the Aramean kings who had been vassals of Hadarezer made peace with Israel and submitted to David. The exact location of Helam is uncertain.
