Helkai

Name

Name meaning: "same as Helek"

Helkai (meaning the same as Helek — part; portion) was a priest heading the family of Meraioth in the days of the high priest Joiakim, who served in Jerusalem after the return from Babylonian exile (Neh. 12:15). He appears in the list of priestly families and their heads during the period of Nehemiah's reforms, one of many names preserved in that community's careful record-keeping of the restored priesthood.
