Hethlon

Hethlon (meaning a fearful dwelling) was a location on the ideal northern boundary of Israel described in Ezekiel's vision of the restored land: "From the great sea, the way of Hethlon, as men go to Zedad; Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim..." (Ezek. 47:15; 48:1). The same location appears in Numbers 34:8 as "Hazar-enan" in the boundary list. Hethlon has been tentatively identified with Heitela, a village north of Damascus on the road from the coast to Hamath, but certainty is elusive. It marks the northwestern approach to the traditional northern border of Canaan.
