Hiddekel

Hiddekel is the Hebrew name for the Tigris River (Akkadian Idiqlat), the third of the four rivers said to flow from the Garden of Eden (Gen. 2:14). It is described as going "toward the east of Assyria" — an accurate geographic description since the Tigris defines the eastern boundary of the Assyrian heartland. The Tigris also appears in Daniel 10:4, where Daniel is standing on its bank when he receives his final vision. At 1,150 miles long, the Tigris is the second-largest river in southwestern Asia after the Euphrates; together they form the alluvial plain of Mesopotamia (modern Iraq) that was the cradle of ancient Babylonian and Assyrian civilization.
