Idalah

Idalah was a town near the western border of the tribe of Zebulun in northern Canaan, listed in Joshua 19:15 among the cities that fell within Zebulun's inheritance when the land was divided among the tribes. The name has been interpreted as meaning snares, though the etymology is uncertain. Its exact site has not been definitively identified by modern archaeology, though some scholars have proposed locations in the lower Galilee region consistent with the tribal boundaries described in Joshua 19.

Beyond its single mention in the boundary list of Zebulun, Idalah receives no further narrative in Scripture. It represents one of many smaller Canaanite settlements that were absorbed into the Israelite tribal territories during the conquest and settlement period, their names preserved in the administrative records embedded in the book of Joshua.
