Jaala
Name
Name meaning: "ascending; a little doe or goat"
Jaala (also Jaalah; meaning ascending; a little doe or goat) was the ancestor of a family of temple servants (Nethinim) who returned with Zerubbabel from the Babylonian exile (Ezra 2:56; Neh. 7:58). The Nethinim were assistants to the Levites in temple service, and their faithful return to Jerusalem after the exile contributed to the restoration of temple worship. Jaala appears only in these census lists from the post-exilic period.
