Jaaziel

Name

Name meaning: "the strength of the Lord"

Jaaziel (meaning the strength of the Lord, variant of Jaaziah) was a Levitical musician appointed by David to play the harp (psaltery) when the ark of the covenant was brought up to Jerusalem (1 Chr. 15:18, 20). He was among the second rank of gate-keepers and instrumentalists who accompanied the ark procession. In 1 Chronicles 16:5 the same individual appears to be called Aziel. The name reflects the devout conviction that God himself is the source of the worshiper's strength.
