Jairus

Jairus was a ruler (archisynagōgos) of the synagogue at Capernaum whose only daughter, twelve years old, was dying. He fell at Jesus' feet and pleaded for her life, and Jesus went with him (Mark 5:22–24; Luke 8:41–42). While en route, the woman with the issue of blood was healed, and then messengers arrived from Jairus's house saying his daughter had died. Jesus said to Jairus, "Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole" (Luke 8:50). Taking Peter, James, and John, and the parents, Jesus went to the house, dismissed the mourners, took the girl by the hand, and said "Talitha cumi" (Mark 5:41) — "Damsel, arise" — and she rose immediately. It is one of three recorded resurrections by Jesus, alongside Lazarus and the widow's son at Nain.
