Jakeh
Name
Jakeh was the father of Agur, the author (or compiler) of the wisdom collection in Proverbs 30: "The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal" (Prov. 30:1). Nothing is known of Jakeh beyond this paternal identification. Some scholars have proposed that "Agur the son of Jakeh" is a symbolic name for Solomon or another Israelite sage, but the conventional reading treats Agur as a separate wisdom figure. The words of Proverbs 30 include memorable numerical proverbs and a humble confession of ignorance before the majesty of God.
