Jashen

Jashen was the father of several members of David's elite corps of mighty men (2 Sam. 23:32): "the sons of Jashen, Jonathan." The parallel text in 1 Chronicles 11:34 reads "the sons of Hashem the Gizonite," suggesting Jashen and Hashem may be variant forms of the same name, or that the text has been abbreviated. Whether Jashen himself was a warrior or simply the patriarch of a warrior family is unclear from the text.
