Jashobeam

Jashobeam (meaning the people sitting; or to whom the people return) the Hachmonite was chief of David's three most elite warriors and first of his mighty men (1 Chr. 11:11). He lifted his spear against 300 men at one time and killed them. The parallel text in 2 Samuel 23:8 calls him Adino the Eznite and credits him with slaying 800 at one time. He also commanded the first monthly division of David's army (1 Chr. 27:2) and was one of the men from the tribes of Manasseh who deserted Saul and joined David at Ziklag (1 Chr. 12:6). He represents the pinnacle of individual military heroism in David's service.
