Jason

Person Name

Name meaning: "he that cures"

Jason (meaning he that cures) was a Jewish Christian of Thessalonica who provided hospitality to Paul and Silas during their mission there (Acts 17:5–9). When the Thessalonian Jews incited a mob and assaulted his house looking for Paul and Silas, they dragged Jason and some other believers before the city rulers, accusing them of harboring men who "have turned the world upside down" and of acting contrary to Caesar's decrees by saying Jesus is king. Jason gave security and was released. He may be the same Jason Paul calls his "kinsman" (fellow Jew) who sends greetings in Romans 16:21.
