Jattir was a city in the hill country of Judah listed among the cities given to Judah in Joshua's allotment (Josh. 15:48) and designated a Levitical city given to the sons of Aaron the priest (Josh. 21:14; 1 Chr. 6:57). After his victory over the Amalekites, David sent a portion of the spoils to the elders of Jattir among the various towns that had sheltered him during his outlaw years (1 Sam. 30:27).
