Jedaiah

Jedaiah (meaning the hand of the LORD; confessing the LORD) is the name of several men. (1.) A Simeonite chief (1 Chr. 4:37). (2.) A priest who helped repair the Jerusalem wall (Neh. 3:10). (3.) The head of the second course of priests in David's organization (1 Chr. 24:7) — one of the most important priestly families, as this family was specifically named by Zerubbabel's administration when the temple service was restored (Ezra 2:36; Neh. 7:39; 1 Chr. 9:10). (4.) A priest who returned from Babylon with Zerubbabel (Neh. 12:6, 19). (5.) One of those who brought offerings of gold and silver from Babylon for the temple (Zech. 6:10, 14). The multiple uses reflect the name's popularity in priestly circles.
