Jehoaddan

Jehoaddan (meaning pleasure or time of the LORD) was the mother of King Amaziah of Judah (2 Kings 14:2; 2 Chronicles 25:1), who reigned approximately 796–767 B.C. She was a native of Jerusalem. Queen mothers in the Judahite monarchy held a recognized position of honor and influence at court, and their names are regularly preserved in the royal formulae of Kings and Chronicles.

Amaziah is evaluated by the Deuteronomistic historian as one who "did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not like his father David" — a qualified approval. His reign saw a notable victory over Edom in the Valley of Salt (2 Kings 14:7) but ended in disaster when he challenged Jehoash of Israel to battle and was decisively defeated. Jehoaddan appears only in the introductory formula of Amaziah's reign and is otherwise unknown.
