Jerimoth
Name meaning: "he that fears or rejects death"
Jerimoth (meaning he that fears death or rejects death) is the name of at least eight minor figures in Chronicles, spanning several tribes and periods. The most notable include: Jerimoth son of David, whose daughter Mahalath was a wife of Rehoboam (2 Chronicles 11:18); a Levite musician in David's organization of the sanctuary musicians (1 Chronicles 25:4); and a tribal officer of Naphtali under David (1 Chronicles 27:19).
The multiple bearers of this name illustrate the Chronicler's interest in comprehensive genealogical records. The connection to David through the marriage of Rehoboam to Jerimoth's daughter Mahalath is particularly notable, as it explains the bloodline of certain later Judahite kings and reflects the web of family alliances in the early monarchy period.
