Jerusha

Jerusha (also Jerushah; meaning possession or inheritance) was the wife of King Uzziah (Azariah) of Judah and the mother of King Jotham (2 Kings 15:33; 2 Chronicles 27:1). She was the daughter of Zadok, though it is uncertain whether this Zadok was the high priest or another man of the same name. Jotham her son is evaluated as a righteous king who "did what was right in the eyes of the LORD" and continued his father Uzziah's building programs.

Jerusha is one of the queen mothers whose names are preserved in the accession formulae of Kings and Chronicles — a consistent practice that reflects the important role of the queen mother (gebirah) in the Judahite court. Queen mothers held official status, and their names appear in the royal records as part of the dynastic identification of each king.
