Jesharelah

Jesharelah (also Asharelah; meaning uncertain) was a son of Asaph and head of the seventh division of Levitical musicians established by David for the sanctuary (1 Chronicles 25:14). He and his brothers and sons — fourteen in all — made up his division, serving by lot in the rotation of musical ministry.

Jesharelah appears only in this one passage. His inclusion reflects the Chronicler's thorough documentation of the twenty-four divisions of temple musicians established by David alongside the priestly courses, ensuring orderly, continuous worship of God in the sanctuary. The name variation (Asharelah in verse 2 vs. Jesharelah in verse 14) may reflect a scribal variant or a longer and shorter form of the same name.
