Jetheth

Jetheth (meaning giving or possibly nail) was one of the chiefs (allophim) of Edom descended from Esau, listed in the genealogy of Genesis 36:40 and 1 Chronicles 1:51. He appears only in these two parallel lists of the chiefs who governed in Edom before any king reigned over Israel.

Jetheth is a minor figure whose sole appearance is in the genealogical-administrative records of Edom. The list of Edomite chiefs in Genesis 36 is notable as one of the few detailed records of non-Israelite administration preserved in the Pentateuch, reflecting the Edomites' close kinship with Israel through the line of Esau and Jacob. These chiefs likely ruled over specific clans or districts within Edom.
