Jethlah

Jethlah (meaning hanging up or heaping up) was a town in the territory allotted to the tribe of Dan, listed in the boundary description of Joshua 19:42. Its precise location is uncertain; it may correspond to a site in the Shephelah (western foothills) region that was part of Dan's original allotment, though much of this territory was subsequently lost to Philistine expansion that eventually led the Danites to migrate northward.

Jethlah appears only in this single boundary list and has no associated narrative. Its inclusion reflects the careful geographical documentation of the tribal allotments in Joshua 13–19, which preserves place names that would otherwise be entirely unknown. Many of the Danite border towns in this list have resisted confident modern identification.
