Jezreel, Portion of

The portion of Jezreel refers to the plot of land at Jezreel associated with Naboth's vineyard, which King Ahab coveted and Queen Jezebel seized through false accusation and judicial murder. The prophet Elijah declared that on this same ground the blood of Jezebel and her sons would be shed, a prophecy fulfilled when Jehu drove his chariot to the portion of Jezreel and had Jezebel's body thrown down from the tower.

The site became a byword for the consequences of royal injustice and divine retribution, and its memory is woven into the narrative of Ahab's dynasty as a place where human cruelty met the judgment of God.
