Job

Job (meaning: he that weeps or cries) was a man of Uz, described in Scripture as blameless and upright, fearing God and turning away from evil. He is counted among the greatest of the men of the east, possessing vast flocks and a large family, and his name appears alongside Noah and Daniel as a paradigm of righteousness in Ezekiel's prophecy. After suffering the catastrophic loss of wealth, children, and health through divinely permitted affliction, Job maintained his integrity while debating the justice of God with three friends.
