Name meaning: "sorrowful, hated"

Jobab (meaning: sorrowful, hated) is the name of several persons in the Old Testament. The most prominent was a son of Joktan listed among the early descendants of Shem. Another Jobab was an early king of Edom, son of Zerah of Bozrah, who reigned before any king ruled over Israel. A third Jobab was a Canaanite king of Madon who joined the northern coalition against Joshua and was defeated at the waters of Merom.
