Joiada
Person
Joiada was a high priest of Israel in the post-exilic period, son of Eliashib and grandson of the first high priest after the return from Babylon. He is listed in the genealogy of priests recorded in Nehemiah. One of his sons married the daughter of Sanballat the Horonite, and Nehemiah expelled him from Jerusalem for this breach of the law of mixed marriages. Joiada stands in the line of high-priestly succession spanning the restoration period.
