Joiarib

Joiarib (meaning: chiding, or multiplying, of the Lord) is the name of several persons in the post-exilic books. One was a leading man at Casiphia whom Ezra sent to find Levites for the return journey to Jerusalem. Another was a Judahite ancestor of Maaseiah who settled in Jerusalem after the exile. A third was the head of the first priestly division in the reorganization of priestly families recorded in Nehemiah, ancestor of the Maccabean priestly dynasty.
