Joktheel

Place

Joktheel is the name of two places in the Old Testament. One was a town in the lowland of Judah, listed in the cities of the Shephelah in Joshua's tribal allotments. The other, more significant use is as the name given by King Amaziah of Judah to the Edomite city of Sela after he captured it in battle, killing ten thousand Edomites. This Sela, also known as Petra, was the great cliff-city of Edom in the mountains of Seir.
