Jubal

Jubal (meaning: he that runs; a trumpet) was the son of Lamech and Adah in the antediluvian genealogy of Cain, and is identified in Genesis as "the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe" — that is, the originator of musical arts among humanity. His name may be connected to the Hebrew yobel, which denotes the jubilee trumpet, suggesting an etymological link between Jubal and the musical traditions of Israel's later worship. He was a brother of Jabal, the ancestor of tent-dwellers and herders, and a half-brother of Tubal-cain, the forger of metal tools.
