Juda

Juda is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Judah as it appears in New Testament genealogies. In Luke's genealogy of Jesus it designates an ancestor of Joseph. In Hebrews 7:14 the form "Juda" (or Judah) is used to identify the tribe from which Jesus descended, noting that Moses spoke nothing about priests from that tribe, underscoring the novelty of Christ's high priesthood according to the order of Melchizedek. The name also appears in Revelation as the tribe of Judah from which the Lion is identified.
