Jude, Epistle of

The Epistle of Jude is a brief but intense letter written by Jude, a brother of James and likely of Jesus, addressed to Christians facing the infiltration of antinomian teachers who were using grace as a license for immorality and denying Jesus Christ as Lord. Jude marshals a series of Old Testament examples — the wilderness generation, the fallen angels, Sodom and Gomorrah — alongside references to the pseudepigraphical books of Enoch and the Assumption of Moses to warn against apostasy and urge his readers to contend for the faith.

The epistle shares significant material with 2 Peter 2 and is noted for its Jewish apocalyptic idiom and its closing doxology, one of the most majestic in the New Testament.
