Judith

Judith (meaning: the praise of the Lord, a feminine form of Judah) was a daughter of Beeri the Hittite and wife of Esau, listed among his Canaanite wives in Genesis 26:34. Her marriage to Esau is noted as a source of grief to Isaac and Rebekah, illustrating the contrast between Esau's disregard for the patriarchal covenant community and Jacob's eventual marriage within the extended family. She is not to be confused with the heroic widow Judith of the deuterocanonical book, which is not considered canonical in Protestant tradition.
