Jupiter

Jupiter (meaning: the father that helpeth) was the chief deity of the Roman pantheon, king of the gods and ruler of the heavens, identified by the Greeks with Zeus. He appears in two New Testament contexts. At Lystra, when Paul healed a lame man, the crowd identified Paul and Barnabas as Hermes and Zeus (Jupiter) descended from heaven, and the priest of Zeus brought oxen and garlands to offer sacrifice, an act the apostles vigorously refused. In Acts 19, the image of Artemis at Ephesus is said to have "fallen from Zeus" (Jupiter), indicating a sky-stone or meteorite enshrined as the goddess's cult image.
