Laodicea, Epistle from

Concept

The epistle from Laodicea mentioned in Colossians 4:16 is a letter Paul intended the Colossian and Laodicean churches to exchange. The most widely accepted identification is that it refers to the circular letter now preserved as the Epistle to the Ephesians, which would have reached Colossae via Laodicea. An apocryphal "Epistle to the Laodiceans" exists in Latin but is generally regarded as a later compilation of Pauline phrases, not an authentic letter.
