Lapidoth

Lapidoth (meaning torches; enlightened) was the husband of Deborah the prophetess, judge of Israel (Judg. 4:4). Nothing else is recorded of him. Some interpreters have proposed that "wife of Lapidoth" should be rendered "woman of fiery spirit," taking Lapidoth as a descriptive epithet rather than a personal name, though the majority reading treats it as the name of Deborah's husband. If historical, the mention establishes Deborah's marital status in a culture where such identification was customary for women named in public roles.
