Leasing
Concept
Leasing is an archaic English term for "lies" or "falsehood," used in the Authorized Version (Ps. 4:2; 5:6) from the Old English leasung. Both passages condemn those who "love leasing" — who delight in deceit and pursue vanity. Modern translations render it simply "lies" or "falsehood." The term has no connection to any modern financial or legal meaning. The underlying Hebrew kazab (Ps. 4:2) and shaqer (Ps. 5:6) both refer to deception and falsehood in their broader biblical usage.
